Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Yankees have placed catcher Francisco Cervelli and pitcher Ivan Nova on the 15-day disabled list.

Cervelli suffered a fractured right hand during Friday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays, an injury that will sideline him for at least six weeks.

Cervelli was removed after taking a foul tip from Toronto's Rajai Davis, the game's leadoff hitter, off his hand to begin the top of the first.

The 26-year-old Venezuelan had won the Yankees' starting catcher job in spring training and was having a fine start to the regular season, batting .269 (14- of-52) with three home runs and eight RBI in 17 games.

Nova left Friday's start in the third inning with discomfort in his pitching elbow. He was placed on the DL with inflammation of the right triceps.

The right-hander is 1-1 with a 6.48 ERA in four games this season.

In addition, New York transferred shortstop Derek Jeter from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list, selected the contract of pitcher Vidal Nuno from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and recalled catcher Austin Romine from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Nuno was 2-0 with a 1.54 ERA in four starts for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. Meanwhile, Romine was hitting .333 in 14 games for Scranton/Wilkes- Barre.
