Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics have acquired closer Jim Johnson from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for infielder Jemile Weeks and a player to be named later.

The 30-year-old Johnson recorded a major league-best 101 saves over the previous two years with the Orioles. He totaled a club-record 51 saves in 54 opportunities and a 2.49 earned run average in 2012. Last season, the right- hander saved 50 games and compiled a 2.94 ERA.

Weeks was Oakland's first-round selection in the 2008 draft. After playing at least 97 games with the A's in 2011 and 2012, he spent the majority of the 2013 campaign with Triple-A Sacramento.

The 26-year-old batted .271 with four homers, 10 triples, 19 doubles and 40 RBI in 130 games for Sacramento.

In 223 career major league games, Weeks is a .258 hitter with four homers, 16 triples, 41 doubles and 56 RBI.
