Full Time Evening Master Control Operator

Brief Description:
The Master Control Operator will load information into the on-air server using the automation system and maintain the quality of on-air signals for WTVA, WLOV, and WKDH.  The operator will hold the primary responsibility for proper shows and commercials airing as per the log and maintain proper signal levels of those shows.  Operator must be capable of reading and keeping detailed program and transmitter logs.  Good attendance and attention to detail is essential.  Must be able to work well independently, as well as with others.  Must be able to work weekends and holidays if scheduled.  May be asked to assist with remote productions, special projects, or studio tapings as needed.
 
Minimum Requirements
• High school diploma or GED
• Basic computer skills

Duties required, but not limited to, following directions from supervisor to cover various news stories.  Applicant must be able to drive vehicle to cover various news stories.  Must be professional and courteous with all individuals while on the job.  Person will be required to obtain pertinent information from sources, shoot video with station cameras, write stories, and edit stories with station equipment.  Work must be done in timely manner to make best use of equipment and meet all deadlines.  Person must be able to communicate on camera either live or on tape effectively and conversationally.  Must be able to produce newscast on daily basis or on fill-in basis.  Must assist with closed captioning of various news broadcasts.

News Director

Brief Description:
Duties required, but not limited to, overseeing day-to-day operation and responsibility of the newsroom.  Must be able to act professionally and courteously with all individuals while on the job.  Clear management direction is required to make sure all personnel know their responsibility and duties.  Will be responsible for annual evaluation of each news department staff member on his or her date of hire.  News director will be ultimately responsible for all news content on the air.  Applicant will be required to obtain pertinent information from sources, shoot and video with station cameras, write stories, and edit stories with station equipment.  Applicant must be able, if called upon, to communicate on camera either live or on tape effectively and conversationally.  Must be able, if called upon, to produce newscast on daily basis or on fill-in basis or to make sure the job gets done.  Must be able to work daily with computerized newsroom system and any computerized editing system, plus have some working knowledge of computerized weather systems.
 
Minimum Requirements
• Four-year college or university degree
• Five years of experience working in newsroom, including newsroom management experience

Part-Time Evening Character Generator Operator

Brief Description:
Duties required, but not limited to, operating Character Generator for evening newscasts.  Excellent spelling and proofreading skills are required.  Additional responsibilities involve operating studio camera, audio, and other duties as needed.  Good attendance and attention to detail is essential.  Must be able to work well independently, as well as with others.

Studio Supervising Engineer

Brief Description:
Duties required, but not limited to, insuring studio equipment operates within the design parameters called for, install/supervise installation of new/replacement equipment.   Repair, or supervise repair of faulty equipment.  Work with other departments to enhance operations.  Assist other engineers with their projects.  This job will require extensive computer and electronic skills.
 
Minimum Requirements
• Formal study of electronics through college and/or military school
• Minimum of 4 years experience in television studio equipment repair
• Experience in computer programs and network systems
• Strong background in video, audio, RF, and IT components and systems

Graphic Artist/Commercial Editor

Brief Description:
Duties required, but not limited to, the design and implementation of graphics for all types of media.  This position involves working closely with station account executives as well as clients, advertising agencies, and marketing representatives.  Additional duties would be producing and editing effective television commercial spots, when needed, that strive to reach the client’s advertising goals.  This person will be responsible for checking to make sure that he or she has all of the materials and information necessary for effective graphic designs and the production of effective commercial spots.  Must be able to communicate well with others and always be professional with all members of station staff.  Will report directly to the Creative Services Director.
 
Minimum Requirements
• Four year college or university degree and/or,
• At least two years of experience working as a graphic artist and editor in a commercial or public television station or production company
