Shannon Price joined the WTVA News team in October
of 2008. A Garland, Texas native, Shannon
didn't always plan on becoming an on-air personality.
As an accomplished vocalist, she was a regular
National Anthem singer for both the Dallas Stars and
Harlem Globetrotters, as well as a performer with the
Dallas Opera. Shannon began her college education
at the University of Oklahoma, majoring in Musical
Theater.
Upon winning the title of America's Junior Miss in
2004, Shannon was immediately flown to New York City
for a media tour. It was there on the sets of
FOX News and "Good Morning America" that she fell in
love with the news process.
Before her sophomore year began, Shannon transferred
to the University of Mississippi to pursue broadcast
journalism. In addition to her in-class instruction,
she credits her most valuable broadcast education to
her tenure at Ole Miss Sports Productions under the
direction of J. Stern.
While attending Ole Miss, Shannon worked as a sports
intern at WTVA, and later as a production intern for
"The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" at CBS Studios
in Los Angeles. Before the completion of her
final semester, she also had a story nationally televised
on FOX News.
Shannon is thrilled to be back with WTVA. She
and her husband Derek, a youth minister who is a Mississippi
native and fellow Ole Miss graduate, are looking forward
to life in North Mississippi and getting to know people
in the area.
