I grew up in Marion County, Alabama in the small town of Brilliant. I always had a fear of storms when I was young, but by the time I was a teenager, that fear had turned into a deep fascination. Living in Northwest Alabama, I was able to watch local TV out of Birmingham, Huntsville, and Tupelo/Columbus. I spent many hours watching Dick Rice and John Dolusic track severe weather throughout Mississippi.
I graduated from Brilliant High School in 1999 and from Mississippi State University's Broadcast Meteorology Program in the summer of 2005. While in college, I had internships at the ABC station in Huntsville, Alabama, and at the ABC, CBS, and FOX stations in Birmingham, Alabama. I landed my first TV job shortly after graduating, at FOX6 NEWS in Birmingham.
As a production Assistant/Assistant Meteorologist, I ran studio cameras, teleprompter, floor directed, and built weather graphics for the afternoon/evening shows. During severe weather I was the official radar operator and operated live radar during many deadly tornado outbreaks. During my time at FOX6, I was mentored on a daily basis by former Chief Meteorologist David Neal.
I served as a youth minister at two different congregations of the Church of Christ in Northwest Alabama from 2002, until May of 2008. It was while doing that, that I met my wife Meagan. She and I were married in May of 2008. I consider family to be one of the most important things in life. I credit most of my success so far in life to my Mom who has always pushed me to pursue my dreams.
I have a true passion for severe weather forecasting and I enjoy providing Northern Mississippi and Northwest Alabama with constant updates during severe weather. |
