Brett Garrett is the newest member of the WTVA Sports
Department, joining the award winning team in August
of 2007.
He was born in Dallas but grew up in Charlotte, North
Carolina and actually dreamed of becoming a television
meteorologist as a child.
"When I was a little boy, my parents thought I
was going to be a meteorologist, because while the local
weatherman did the weather, I would stand beside the
TV and do my own forecast."
So after years of honing his future beside the family
TV set, Brett returned to Texas for college, where he
earned a business degree from Abilene Christian University.
He soon decided he wasn't really a businessman and entered
school again, this time at East Carolina University,
where he obtained a communications degree and set his
sights back on tv.
After working for three years as a news producer and
videographer at WITN-TV in Greenville, North Carolina,
Brett moved to KAIT-TV in Jonesboro, Arkansas to work
as a reporter.
In his free time, Brett enjoys working out, movies and
watching Cardinals Baseball and Carolina Panthers Football.
Once an avid surfer on the East Coast, he spends most
his time now dreaming about the beach...and still keeps
his surfboard in his living room!
