Bond set for bank robber

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) -- Bond has been set at $150,000 for a man who robbed a Columbus bank on Thursday.

Columbus police say Ashby Barton, 24, robbed Renasant Bank at the corner of Main Street and 9th Street around 2 p.m.

Police report no one was injured during the event, and Barton was arrested a short time afterward.

Barton is charged with robbery and felony escape.

He is scheduled to appear in court on April 17.

He is currently housed at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Facility.
