LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - In Lee County Thursday morning, the snow fell quickly and the accidents started happening just as quickly.

In Verona, one driver slid off Highway 145 and ended up with the rear of the car in the ditch.

Police say there were minor injuries.

Not far away in Shannon, another wreck happened because of the snowy roads.

Driver Eddie Brown said, "Once you hit a slick spot, there isn't anything you can do about it."

Brown was driving his sister's car.

He ended up in the ditch.

Brown is from Chicago and says he's used to taking a four wheel drive out on the slippery roads and not a two wheel like his sister's.

Brown said, "I was driving and it just slid. I was doing ten miles per hour and it slid off the road. That's it."

It's those same scenarios that played out all morning.

Shannon Police Chief Desiree Kershner said, "Most of the drivers are going slow. They hit a slick spot and before you know it they slide. These gentlemen we're out here with were just driving and hit a slick spot. The truck slid off the road."

With all the accidents on the roads ambulance drivers, police, and wrecker drivers moved from one accident to the next.

Tom Lyles' wrecker service is one of many that stayed busy pulling drivers out of spots they probably never thought they'd be in today.

Lyles said, "We've had multiple calls. Two calls at one time. We love it. Snow in Mississippi is fun to us!"

But for some who ended up off the highway because of the winter weather, it's a snow day they'd probably rather forget.
