MONROE CO., Miss. (WTVA) -- A woman from Smithville involved in a car crash Sunday night is dead.

According to Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley, the accident happened Sunday, just before 8:40 p.m. on Wren Cemetery Road in the Wren Community.

Investigators say Trina Kay Pace Bishop, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gurley says Bishop was a backseat passenger of a sport utility vehicle driven by a friend.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Department says the driver of the SUV was going south on Wren Cemetery Road when the driver lost control and struck a tree causing the vehicle to roll over.

Pace was wearing a seatbelt.

Pace's 16-year-old son was also a passenger in the vehicle.

He was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo with minor injuries and was released according to family.

The driver was also taken to NMMC in Tupelo, but her condition is not known.
