KOSCIUSKO, Miss. (AP) -- A new trial date has been set for a Sallis man charged with murder in a 2012 fatal shooting in Attala County.

Sheriff Tim Nail tells the Star Herald that Barry Ware will go on trial Aug. 12.

Trials for Ware and co-defendant Frankie Barber had been scheduled for March.

Ware and Barber are each charged with the murder in the Jan. 7, 2012, shooting of Cedric Montae Sharkey, 24, of Sallis.

Authorities say the shooting appeared to have occurred after Barber and Ware confronted Sharkey, thinking he might have been involved in stealing iron or other scrap metal from Barber's property.

Sharkey died of a gunshot wound in the chest.

Nail says no new trial date has been set for Barber.
