TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — A group of volunteers got their bikes rolling for a good cause this week.

After setting out from Nashville, the group of 37 veered off the Natchez Trace Parkway to make a stop in Tupelo while on their way to Greenwood.

Their goal is to raise money and awareness for the Fuller Center for Housing, a ministry founded by Millard Fuller, the creator of Habit for Humanity.

“The Fuller Center for Housing is a Christian housing ministry that basically believes everyone deserves a simple decent place to live…no one should be living in a shack or with a leaky roof or things like that,“ said Melissa Merrill, Fuller Center Bicycle Adventure Trip leader.

The volunteers will be working on several houses in Greenwood, Mississippi.

The homeowners will contribute to the work on their home, and will only have to pay back the cost of the materials.
