OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) — A university committee of faculty and staff will look to see if any students should be punished for their involvement in the election night incident at Ole Miss.
According to the university, a group of students gathered to protest the reelection of President Barack Obama, and the crowd swelled to 400 people.
Campus police say no one was hurt and there was no fighting. However, racial slurs could be heard during the incident.
The university says the committee will try to submit a final report by the end of the fall semester about what took place that night.
That report could include names of students accused of violating the university's student code of conduct or actually breaking the law.
Other entities would then be called upon to determine if those accusations of wrongdoing are valid and what should happen to the students involved.
