BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- Several churches in Booneville are breaking down the barriers between different religious groups.

The first-ever Unity March for Christ in Booneville was held Saturday.

Organizers say the march was meant to ask all people to take part in making a spiritual connection.

More than a dozen churches from around the area participated.

After the march was over there was a ceremony where speakers and other entertainers performed.

One organizer says he expects the march to get bigger every year.

"We're tearing down the walls of division and wanting to bring together the body of Christ through fellowship with all of the brethren," Bobby Jackson said.

Jackson says he has been trying plan the march for about six years now.

He says Booneville city leaders played a big part in making the march happen this year.
