TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- Put on your poodle skirts, tight leg britches, high top Chucks & saddle oxfords and come on over to United Blood Services and donate blood.

The Rock Around the Clock – 18 Hour blood drive will be held Thursday, June 27, from 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 midnight at United Blood Services on Eason Blvd in Tupelo.

The goal is to draw at least 250 pints of blood at this event, which is what we collect daily to meet the needs of area patients.

It is also extremely important that we achieve this goal to ensure we have enough blood on the shelves for the long 4th of July holiday weekend.

Additionally, we are asking O negative donors to donate at this drive as we anticipate a high usage of O negative blood type during the 4th of July holiday.

Participants will receive a “ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK” commemorative T-Shirt and a certificate for a pint of Blue Bell ice cream.

All participants can register to win great hourly prizes, donated by area merchants and businesses to be given away throughout the day.

All donors will also be entered in a GRAND PRIZE drawing for a KINDLE FIRE, a casino getaway package, 39” LCD TV, a golf package and many other nice prizes.

Finally, there are four special prize drawings, at 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. & 10:00 p.m., for a $500 Visa Card or an Apple iPad.

Come by and save a life and enjoy food and drinks from some of Tupelo’s finest restaurants.

All volunteer blood donors must be at least 16 year’s old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.

Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 must have signed permission from a parent or guardian.
