ITAWAMBA COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - A Tishomingo County woman and another person was airlifted to a Memphis hospital following a traffic accident on Highway 78 near Fulton Friday.

MHP Trooper Ray Hall says Sybil P. Haber, 78, of Golden was driving the wrong way in the east bound lanes when her car collided with a vehicle driven by Nanetta Shoemaker, 36, of Tupelo.

Haber died in the accident.  A child traveling in Shoemaker's vehicle was airlifted to Lebonheur Children's Medical Center.

Shoemaker and two other children in her vehicle were transported to North MIssissippi Medical Center.

A second accident occured when the driver of an SUV ran off the road and overturned trying to avoid the first accident.

The teenager driver of that vehicle was also transported to NMMC with minor injuries.

The accident happened shortly before 5 p.m. outside of Fulton near the truck scales and closed the east bound lanes for nearly an hour.
