GUNTOWN, Miss. (WTVA) — Police say a man will be charged in connection with Wednesday's multi-vehicle accident on Highway 45 that sent three people to the hospital.
One of those people is Philip Hobgood of Booneville.
He was released from North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after the accident and was held in the Lee County Adult Detention Center while police investigated what had happened at the Guntown exit.
Now, Guntown Police Chief Michael Hall says Hobgood will be charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Hobgood is accused of using his truck to run another vehicle off the highway.
That vehicle, with two people inside, flipped and struck a sport utility vehicle on the other side of the median.
Hall says only one person was in the SUV but she was not hurt.
Hobgood is expected to go before a Lee County Justice Court judge Friday.
