WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA)--  A West Point man is facing charges after police arrested him in connection with a string of burglaries dating back to earlier this year.

West Point police tell Johnnie Alexander Edwards, 19, who was arrested Monday on 37 counts of burglary, is now facing 40 counts that include armed robbery, possession of a stolen firearm and burglary.

Investigators said the break-ins occurred mostly after residents had gone to bed for the night.

Edwards is being held in the Clay County Jail under a $315,000 bond.

Authorities say Edwards may not have acted alone in the burglaries and anyone with information about the crimes is asked to call Crimestoppers or the West Point Police Departmant at (662) 494-1244.
