GRENADA, Miss. (WTVA) — Two schools in Grenada were placed on lockdown for approximately 30 minutes Friday, but the school district superintendent said it was only as a precaution.

Dr. David Daigneault said a police officer called Grenada High School and reported officers were trying to catch someone being sought near the school for child support.

He added that led to the decision to place Grenada High School and Grenada Middle School on lockdown around 12 p.m.

The schools are adjacent to one another.

Daigneault added that no one on either campus was ever in danger.
