ST. LOUIS (WTVA) -- A Tupelo woman is among the newest member of the the board of directors of the Memphis Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.

Lisa Hawkins, president of Room to Room in Tupelo, was appointed to a three-year term on the board earlier this month.

The board is made up of seven people not employed by the Fed who have knowledge of economic and credit conditions in their region.

The Memphis region covers north Mississippi, west Tennessee, and parts of east Arkansas.

The directors provide insight on developments in the local economy to the president and economists at the Federal Reserve Bank in St. Louis.

The information and other economic data is analyzed by the St. Louis staff, then presented to the Federal Open Market Committee in Washington.

Officials say the regional boards assure the condition of Main Street America is represented to the committee.
