TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — Could people living in Tupelo soon have their garbage picked up only one day a week instead of two days a week?
That is one proposal being submitted to waste haulers as the City Council works on deciding who should be awarded the contract for garbage pickup.
Waste Management was given a four-year deal in 2007 before the agreement was extended. The current contract runs out in June.
Council President Fred Pitts said companies interested in landing the city contract are being given two proposals to submit bids.
One calls for keeping twice weekly garbage pickup with recyclables picked up every other week.
The other proposal would switch to a once-a-week pickup of garbage and recyclables.
