OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) -- A federal court judge has set a 2014 trial date in a lawsuit filed by an insurance company to prevent it from holding any financial liability over the Dwight Bowling case.
Arcadia Insurance Company filed the lawsuit against Bowling, the Monroe County School District, and two people who have filed civil lawsuits in the case.
Dowling pleaded guilty to two counts of enticement of a minor and and one count of witness tampering in federal court and was sentenced to 25 years in prison on August 16, 2011.
He also pleaded guilty to 14 state charges including fondling, sexual battery, child exploitation and bribery of a witness.
He was ordered to serve 35 years on those charges.
In their lawsuit, Arcadia says the actions Bowling is accused of happened before the company insured the school district.
They also say language in the policy excludes acts related to sexual abuse or sexual molestation.
The trial date is set for January 4, 2014.
