TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- The 10th annual Mississippi Trailblazer Awards banquet took place Saturday evening in Tupelo at the BancorpSouth Arena.

Organizers say the program is set up to celebrate diversity in the community as awards are given to certain individuals who exemplify that spirit in their professions.

The program has featured several notable award winners over the years and they say this year is no exception.

"It's very important because it allows people to put aside political differences and racial differences, ethnic differences and just come together to celebrate diversity. People aren't different in this room; everybody is the same," said program founder James Hull. "We all have the same goals for education, for economic development. And this is a great way for people to celebrate diversity which means that we have more in common than we do differences."

Mississippi's 5th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge James Graves was honored as a Trailblazer of the Decade.
