PHEBA, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Wednesday traffic stop in Clay County lead to the arrest of a man on drug charges.

Sheriff Eddie Scott says David Winfield, 45, of Pheba was taken into custody after deputies found over 19 grams of methamphetamine inside his vehicle.

Winfield was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Scott says a small amount of cash and the vehicle were seized by law enforcement.

Winfield remains in the Clay County Detention Center until he has an initial appearance.

Scott says that hearing will take place December 6.

The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics is assisting the in the investigation.
