WASHINGTON (WTVA) -- Toyota's continuing efforts to cut energy consumption has lead to its naming as an EPA Energy Star Partner of the Year for the ninth consecutive year.
The company has taken action during the past decade to reduce energy costs at 13 engine, parts, and vehicle assembly facilities in the U. S.
Toyota officials say the moves have saved the company nearly $370 million.
The Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi plant in Blue Springs combines innovative design and the best saving techniques from other plants to be the most energy efficient in the U. S.
Toyota officials say the plant uses a new painting technique that removes the need for a baking oven.
The award will be officially announced Wednesday.
