TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Toyota company officials presented checks totaling $25,000 to the Northside Boys and Girls Club in Tupelo and also to the club in New Albany.
Fifteen thousand dollars goes to New Albany and $10,000 to the Tupelo clubhouse.
Also Friday, Toyota gave a $10,000 gift to Faith Haven, Inc.
Doug Formby with Toyota said, "We want to get our members active and involved on community boards where we understand the needs. We then can appropriate our giving where it will do the biggest difference."
The checks to the Boys and Girls Club will go directly toward helping the hundreds of young people who are members and take part in the many different activities that go on there.
Tonny Oliver with the Boys and Girls Club said, "We provide a diversified curriculum to our club members. Our goal is to develop our youth into productive, caring and responsible citizens."
As a bit of an added bonus Toyota team members also painted the inside of the Northside Boys and Girls Club.
It was part of Friday's United Way Day of Caring.
Oliver said, "With kids in here on a daily basis, sometimes they smear things on the wall. You just want a beautiful building."
Toyota Team Member Bonnie Pittman said, "I wish the weather had held out for us so we could've worked outside some more. With it raining and cold we're inside painting. It needs it in here too. There's a lot of fun and fellowship."
A new coat of paint, much needed funds, and a company that says it's glad to be part of making the community where it does business even stronger.
