NEW HOULKA, Miss. (WTVA) -- The town of New Houlka in Chickasaw County has issued a burn ban.

City officials took the action on Tuesday.

The town's fire chief says residents will be allowed to shoot fireworks in the city limits during the July 4th holiday.

He says they should exercise caution when shooting them.

Several counties issued burn bans in recent days, but those do not apply to municipalities.
