OXFORD, Miss. (AP) -- The monthlong rollout of the new and stricter parking laws on the Square in Oxford is over.

No one was issued overtime parking tickets during that time, but on Monday, it all changes when Standard Parking, the company hired to manage the new and updated parking laws, will begin issuing "real'' tickets.

City Planner Tim Akers tells the Oxford Eagle that the first ticket is free. Akers says the violator will get a letter that will explain the fine process for future tickets.

The second offense is $10, then $25, then $50. However, those fines will go up $10 a month for each month the fine is left unpaid. After 90 days, for example, the $10 fine will become a $30 fine.
