WATER VALLEY, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks investigation into illegal turkey hunting in Yalobusha County has lead to the conviction of three men.

MDWFP officials says Jeffrey C. Reeves, Randall A. Byford, and Anthony C. Davis all pleaded guilty to hunting turkeys during the closed season.

Reeves also pleaded guilty to hunting from a public road and killing ten wild turkey hens.

Byford also entered a plea to possession of wild turkeys taken unlawfully.

All three men were ordered to serve 10 days in the county jail and pay fines and assessments.

Authorities say one of the men admitted to hunting out of season for 18 years, but MDWFP investigators say the three had worked together to poach turkeys for the last eight years.
