HAMILTON, Ala. (WTVA) -- A Marion County, Alabama teenager is in custody following the stabbing of his parents Sunday night.
Sheriff Mike Williams tells WTVA.com Travis Montgomery, 16, was arrested Monday morning in the stabbing death of his mother, Renae Montgomery, 46, and injuring his father, Wade Montgomery, 49.
Williams says authorities were called to the Montgomery home on Slaughter Pen Road near Haleyville around 4 a.m. Monday morning after a neighbor head Mr. Montgomery calling for help.
He says investigators believed the two were stabbed multiple times sometime around 11 p.m. in the bedroom of their home.
Renae Montgomery was found in the hallway and Wade Montgomery had manage to crawl to the living room.
Wade Montgomery is in stable condition in the UAB hospital.
Travis Montgomery was arrested without incident around 11 a.m. at an apartment complex in Haleyville.
He is currently being held in the Marion County Jail on charges of murder and attempted murder.
Williams says they will carry him before a judge Tuesday for an intial appearance.
He says the case remains under investigation.
