ASHLAND, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Tennessee Valley Authority dedicated its largest gas-fired plant Tuesday morning.

The Magnolia Combined Cycle Gas Plant is located near Ashland in Benton County.

The 968-megawatt natural-gas-fired plant is the largest of TVA's five high-efficiency, combined cycle gas plants.

The system captures heat from the turbine's exhaust to boil water, produce steam, and generate additional power.

The process reduces fuel use and produces fewer emissions.

30 people are employed at the facility.

TVA also operates combined cycle plants in Caledonia and Southaven.
