GUNTOWN, Miss. (WTVA) -- Guntown Middle School students are gearing up for their annual science fair.
Judging kicks off Wednesday, January 30.
Some 200 children will reveal and in some cases demonstrate the subject of their project.
Topics include everything from the origin of fingerprints to physics.
One student's homemade catapult is expected to be one of the stars of the competition.
"It was kind of challenging because I didn't really think that the conclusion would be how it was, but I had scientific help from somebody who has done this for a living," student Savanna Bell said.
"It shoots really far and it was fun to build and my dad and my brother helped me make it," student Peyton Dulaney said.
Winners of the Guntown Middle School Science Fair will go on to compete with other students at Northeast Mississippi Community College.
The top students will go head-to-head in a state competition.
