TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- The widening of Tupelo's East Main Street is part of the Major Thoroughfare Program.
But some business owners are having a hard time getting used to the work.
"It does make it more difficult to get in and out of our facilities here," says Dennis Nolan of Nolan Brothers Motors. "So you have to be really creative to get to Nolan Brothers to buy a vehicle and make your payments and that kind of stuff. People seem to be getting here. They're just having to take alternate routes."
Workers will expand East Main to five lanes from Veterans Boulevard east to Willow Road and to three lanes from Willow east to Hillsdale Drive.
The work is expected to take about a year.
