BELMONT, Miss. (WTVA) -- It's been just over five weeks since straight line winds left behind a significant amount of storm damage in the city of Belmont.

Officials say the clean up effort is essentially complete with the exception of a few large trees that will have to be handled by a private contractor.

Vice Mayor Steve Smith says businesses damaged by the storm are also back in operation including the Belmont Cafe.

Smith says the city did not receive any federal or state assistance in the clean up, but they were able to get the job done with the city's maintenance department and inmate labor.
