STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) — Remaining ballots are expected to be counted Wednesday afternoon to determine winners in two races from the municipal primaries in Starkville.

Incumbent Sandra Sistrunk leads challenger Lisa Wynne by two votes in the Democratic primary for alderman of Ward 2.  However, there are 17 affidavit ballots that must be validated.

The same goes for the 16 affidavit ballots in Ward 4 where Jason Walker and John Gaskin each has 186 votes in the Democratic primary for alderman.

City Clerk Taylor Adams says people are visiting homes in those two wards in an attempt to validate the affidavit ballots.

He says the ballots found to be legitimate will be counted at 4 p.m.
