STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Starkville Board of Alderman could vote tonight to proceed with the purchase of the Cadence Bank property on East Main Street.

The city has approached the bank about the possible sale and was given a price of $2.55 million.

City leaders say that includes the land, building, phone systems, security systems and furniture.

Chief Administrative Officer Taylor Adams says the property would become the new home of the Starkville Police Department.

Funding would come from various sources, including the sale of a lagoon on Highway 12.

The board is also expected to approve a plan to support and help finance a 365-acre industrial park to be built at the Highway 25 - Highway 182 intersection.
