STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - In Starkville Tuesday night, the board of aldermen voted four to three to move forward on a property tax increase.
Board Vice President Roy Perkins tells WTVA.com that the vote authorizes the city clerk to advertise two public hearings to allow residents to voice their opinion on the tax increase which amounts to 2.78 mil.
The days of the hearings were not set, but the next board meeting is scheduled for September 3.
The board also voted four to three to increase the residential sanitation rates by $1.50 a month.
That increase would take effect October first of this year.
