TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA)-- The "Spirit of Women" is getting more women and girls educated about their health.
Thursday night was the groups annual girls night out.
About 200 women received free health screenings inside Tupelo High School's Auditorium.
They also heard some inspirational words from a 14 year cancer survivor.
"I want to give them hope and encouragement. Regardless of what happens to you...it's what you make of it," said Mamie McCullough, author and speaker.
"We get so wrapped up in everything else in our lives. We forget about our health. We have to remind them as much as we possibly can," said Liz Dawson, North Mississippi Medical Center.
Spirit of Women is a national network of hospitals. NMMC is one of two hospitals in Mississippi involved with the group.
