FULTON, Miss. (WTVA) — On any type of social media, most are probably guilty of posting something about the Super Bowl.
Even Twitter was struggling to keep up Sunday with all the comments.
How much of a part did social media play during the Super Bowl?
We talked to a group who says networking is a way of life.
"I am on Twitter constantly," said Itawamba Community College student Kyle Walker. "When I am not doing anything, I am on Twitter."
"I use Facebook a good bit, and Twitter, I check it every hour," said ICC sophomore Reagan Collier.
A group of students who attend Itawamba Community College got together to watch the big game, but there was not a single second someone didn't pull out a smartphone to post something to a social network.
One student said Super Bowl Sunday had people scrolling through their news feeds more often than usual.
"It is crazy how many more people are on [Facebook or Twitter] during big events like this than they are on a normal basis," said Walker.
Students said one of the reasons social media is so popular during the Super Bowl is because it allows you to share thoughts about a play or a moment from a party with people who aren't able to be there.
"We can speak our minds to a large crowd," said ICC student Kollin McIntyre.
The Super Bowl was the topic of the day for most people Sunday, and with a live Twitter battle between teams on the screen and millions of likes on each team's Facebook fan page, it seemed to bring people together.
"Everybody comes together by watching the same thing," said Collier.
One student had a hunch that the makers of the Super Bowl Facebook pages knew the benefits they would have for their fans.
"It is like free marketing for the Super Bowl because everyone sees it [when you post about the game]," said McIntyre.
Posts could also make people want to watch the same thing their friends are watching.
And if anybody misses anything, it's probably just a tweet away.
