HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. (WTVA) - If you take a moment to scope out the scene in Holly Springs you're going to find a blanket of snow and slippery roads. Some people said it's an amazing sight.
"I was shocked when I woke up this morning and saw that snow on the ground," said John Powell, Holly Springs.
"We had a silent storm last night cause we was not expecting this," said resident Jackie Falkner.
"I was like you know wow, I was shocked, you know. It was really the first time we had snow like this in a while," said Charles Gorman.
"I said oh, it's going to be a terrible day," said Jimmy Young.
Tabitha Todd, another resident, enjoys the snow but she said driving in it is a totally different story.
"I just really reduced my speed significantly and if cars were coming up towards me I slowed off and let them go around me," Todd said.
Normally, it takes her around 35 minutes to get to work but in the given conditions she leaves her home extra early just to be on the safe side.
"I actually left how about an hour earlier than I would've," said Todd.
Powell agrees with Tabitha about putting safety first.
"I've been extra cautious in driving," Powell said.
Young and Todd said they witnessed some accidents.
"I pulled a few people out of ditches," Young said.
I did see quite a few vehicles fishtailing in front of me. I saw quite a few vehicles in the ditch on the way here," Todd said.
This type of weather may not make for the best driving conditions but if you're planning anything like a snowball fight you may be in luck.
Kenn Falkner, who is out of school due to the snow, doesn't like to get out and play. Instead he watches his mother and sister, but he said he welcomes the snow.
Falkner said, "You get to miss school and stay in bed."
Lots of people said when the temperature is low and there's rain along with snow they'd rather stay off the road and inside out of the cold.
