PONTOTOC, Miss. (WTVA) -- A popular game in Florida is coming to north Mississippi.
Get ready for shuffleboard.
Crews with the city of Pontotoc started constructing a new court Tuesday morning at Howard Stafford Park.
Two residents of Pontotoc encouraged city leaders to build the facility in an effort to get an activity that would attract both senior citizens and kids.
"We're looking forward to bringing in senior citizens and also some of the younger generation to play. They don't have this opportunity to play shuffleboard in any other area around here, so it's something unique for Pontotoc County," said Casey Sappington, program coordinator for Pontotc Park and Recreation.
The new shuffleboard facility should be open within 30 to 45 days.
