TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- The suspect of a Tuesday night shooting in Tupelo turned himself in to authorities Thursday afternoon.

Kaz Devon Jenkins, 27, was arrested at the Tupelo Police Department for the shooting of Dominique Carruthers, 23, near the 2300 block of Beasley Drive.

Chief Bart Aguirre says officers were dispatched to the area around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

When they arrived, they found Carruthers lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the hip and groin area.

Witnesses told officers the shooting happened as the result of a fight in the street.

Carruthers was transported to the NMMC by ambulance treated for his injuries.

Jenkins' bond was set at $15,000 for aggravated assault.
