ABERDEEN,  Miss. (WTVA) -- A former Ecru police officer will be sentenced later this year on charges he deprived the rights of two people he pulled over for traffic offenses.

Jody Mac Rock, 35, of Pontotoc pleaded guilty to a two count federal indictment in U. S. District Court in Aberdeen in February to the charges.

Rock was accused on two occasions of pulling over people, then taking cash from them in lieu of writing a traffic citation.

He faces a maximum of one year in prison and/or $100,000 fine on each count.

A federal judge has set a sentencing hearing for September 19 at 3:30 p.m.
