LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) -- As the investigation unfolds, the Lee County Sheriff's Department hopes new clues later this week will shed some light on what happened inside a home on County Road 49.
Meanwhile, those who live and work in Macedonia say the discovery of three bodies is tough to even fathom.
"They are really shaken up, for one reason. People are just in disbelief that something like this would happen," Sherman resident Terry Johns said.
News of the Tuesday morning discovery of 55-year-old Wiley Young, 46-year-old Danica McCord and her 13-year-old daughter Destiny spread like wildfire in the Macedonia community.
Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said all of them were found dead from single gunshot wounds. Though Johnson said that much is clear, a motive remains harder to determine.
"At this point, we're not going to speculate. We just want the community to know that we're very comfortable now releasing enough information to tell you that we believe everything was [reserved] to this house," Johnson said. "We do not believe that we have anyone we're looking for in the general area that would be responsible for this, so you can take that for what it's worth."
During a Tuesday afternoon press conference, several reporters asked the sheriff if the case was a murder-suicide.
"We're not going to comment on that," Johnson said.
Some who knew Young, though, said they can't believe he would be capable of doing this.
"We grew up together, and he was just all and out a good guy, very good guy," Johns said.
The Macedonia community is a quiet one, resident Kenny Gassaway said.
He lives down the road from the house where all three were found.
"It was a total shock. I couldn't believe it, you know, being this close to us, but like I say, you never know," Gassaway said.
Still, he said his heart goes out to the families involved.
"You know, it's really hard. About all you can do is just pray to God and let him help you get through it."
Johnson said he expects more information once autopsy results come back from the state crime lab later this week.
