COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - Renovation is now complete for one of the buildings on the campus of the Mississippi University for Women.

Just recently the campus held an open house and reception for Poindexter Hall.

Hundreds of students, faculty, staff and alumni were on campus for the reopening of the historic building.

The building that was formely known as the "Temple of Music" -- originally constructed in 1905 -- is completely refurbished on the inside.

MUW's president says it was well worth the three-year wait to have Poindexter Hall finally accessible again.

"The real beneficiaries of this building will be our students," says Jim Borsig, president of MUW. "The faculty will be able to get back into space that is purpose-built for teaching music [and] also for our choir; this is really going to enhance the educational experience for our students and better prepare them when they leave our campus."

The building actually closed in 2007 and was fully renovated in September.
