TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- Twice a year, the almost two million square-foot Tupelo Furniture Market is filled with furniture along with their creators, sellers and buyers.
The first market will open for the 2013 season on February 28.
"Some companies are moving in now. That process has already begun. It'll get heavier next week. Some of the showroom companies are moving. The temporary space companies will really begin Monday," said President Kevin Seddon.
The spring showing is completely booked when it comes to exhibitors.
Already, there are 105 more companies signed up this spring than last fall's market.
"It'll be between 500 and 600 companies that will exhibit here at this event. And attendance for the event is up 30% from the last event. Last I heard, most of the hotels rooms were full. We can still find space for people if they want to come, but it's going to be a packed event," said Seddon.
The Tupelo Furniture Market is one of the three largest furniture showcases in the nation.
Not only does the event to do big business for the furniture market and north Mississippi, but its an event unique to the state.
"This part of the state, it's huge. However, it is the largest event in the state of Mississippi. Not only does it have an impact here, but through the state. Twice a year, this event brings more people into the state of Mississippi than any other event that occurs in Mississippi," added Seddon.
