COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Columbus Police Department will hold a graduation ceremony Wednesday night for six new reserve law enforcement officers from Monroe and Lowndes County.
CPD Training Director Elizabeth Patrick says its the first class to graduate since 2006.
She says reserve officers are becoming an important part of law enforcement around the country because of budget constraints facing those agencies.
Patrick says the class is the first of many expected to train in Columbus.
The ceremony will take place in the lower level of the Trotter Convention Center at 6 p.m.
The public is invited to attended.
