VERONA, Miss. (WTVA) - The Ward 3 Neighborhood Watch and Rollin in the 60's Car Club held a community event in Verona at the city park.

Free school supplies, health screenings, face painting along and free food were available for the kids.

One Verona resident says events like this can go along way to helping families who are struggling financially due to the current economic conditions.

"I think this was nice that they put this together for the children today," said Galasha Brown, Verona resident. "To [be able to] come out here and get supplies, it was a blessing for us to be out here today to get what we got."

Local choirs entertained kids and parents with gospel singing as people of all ages enjoyed the outdoor activities.
