GRENADA, Miss. (WTVA) -- A reserve police officer in the city of Grenada has died following a Friday morning traffic accident.

Detective Chief George Douglas tells WTVA.com Johnny Blaylock, 60, died at the Grenada Lakes Medical Center.

Douglas says Blaylock was traveling north on Vance Road and entered the intersection with Highway 8.

A vehicle traveling east on the highway collided with his vehicle.

The accident happened between 9 and 10 a.m.

Douglas says Blaylock, who worked as a reserve for many years with the city, was not on-duty at the time of the accident.

The accident remains under investigation.

Douglas says the Grenada Police Department and the City of Grenada express their condolences to his family for their loss and the city's loss of a fellow officer.
