TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- New technology called "Talk About It" aims to make it easier for Tupelo Public School students to talk about school issues with administrators.
Students in grades 7-12 are given access to the program, and it allows them to anonymously send a message to an administrator about bullying.
The message is similar to an email or text message.
"Unless it's reported there is nothing an administrator can do about it," said Diana Ezell, assistant superintendent. "This is a safe and anonymous way for students to report to their administrator if they feel they are being bullied or if they see someone else being bullied."
But, the program also allows students to report other concerns like teen pregnancy, cheating and stress.
"It's very important for students to feel a responsibility not only for themselves but for their friends and their classmates. If we truly want campuses to be safe, it's got to be more than one person's responsibility," said Ezell.
"They see things all the time but they are not willing to tell on their friends," said Javon Henton.
Henton's son is a Tupelo Public School student and she also works with area youth.
"If they can trust you they will talk to you and tell. If they feel they can't trust you, or their friends will find out that they've told on them, they won't tell," Henton stated.
Educators say the students will be able to pick an administrator from a drop-down-list.
The administrator then encourages the student to come in for a face-to-face meeting.
