BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- Students at Northeast Mississippi Community College can register for classes quicker.

Leaders have consolidated student service offices under one roof.

Third year student Molly Thorn said she remembers the old process like it was yesterday.

"You would have to go to one building to get your registration form, and you would have to go to another one (building) to get your parking decal and all the other stuff," said Thorn.

Thorn said it's easier having everything in one building.

Leaders said the need for convenience was the driving force behind the building.

"Our administrative offices were scattered through six different buildings, and that is just not the way we wanted to treat our students. But it says something about how we had outgrown our original facilities,"said Dr. Johnny Allen, the college's president.

The building is named after longtime board member T. Jack Ramsey, who has spent close to three decades supporting the college and the students.

"I'm honored and I am pleased that it bears my name. But the name over the door, Student Service Center, is what it's all about, " said Ramsey.

The now vacant buildings will be transformed into a bookstore and offices for some of the staff. The rest of space will be converted into classrooms.
